Why I choose talaqqi?

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

A : Kalu belajar kitab2 agama dgn guru2 ni mcm talaqqi ni, lmbt dan lapuk gaya tu. Cth bidang medic la, kalu nak cari info utk report ke, pbl ke, pakai Google ja terus keluar berderet2 maklumat nak tau.

B: Hmm, aku separuh setuju ttg cth ko bg pasal medic, tp ak x setuju pendapat ko ttg kitab2 agama.

1) Cuba ko bygkan dlm dunia kita ni penuh dgn anasir2 pelik, cthnya philosophy secularism, syiah, ajaran2 sesat, berita2 palsu, fitnah sana sini dan byk lg, rasa2 mana lg selamat kalu tanya Google yg siapa2 ja buleh tulis ttg apa2 dgn tanya dan belajar ilmu2 AGAMA dgn guru2 yg ambil ilmu satu persatu dr guru sebelumnya hingga berulang2 sampai ke Rasulullah sallallahu 'alai wassalam?

2) About medical stuff, even our doctors always remind us if we want to take any sources from the internet, make sure it's medical website that have been recommended. Not some random blogs or websites even wikipedia. One of our doctors said "Come on,you're a medical student, it's a big shame when u have bundle of medical resources that u can get from the library but u use wiki that's meant for lay people".

A : Haha, terabuq ang speaking English naa. Jap, ak x paham ttg mksd ko "tanya Google yg siapa2 ja buleh tulis ttg apa2". cmne tu? About medical stuff, yeah, couldnt agree more than that. Asyik ak ja kalah cakap dgn ko.haha.

B: Ak bg ang analogi senang, cth, ang x tau cmna nak solat jama' la kan, pastu ang p cari sapa2 hat ang jumpa tepi jalan pastu ang tanya ttg solat jama'. Dia jawab "Rasa2nya lah kan, ak rasa lah x tau betul ke x, ko kene buat cmni n cmni." Pastu, ang ikut apa dia kata yg 'rasa2' tu. Ang rasa mcm oke ke x kalu lagu tu?

A: Uish, mane buleh bro. Nmpak sgt was2 tu.

B: Tu la mksd ak. Kata Imam Malik bin Anas ra : “Sesungguhnya ilmu ini merupakan agama. Maka, lihatlah dengan siapa kamu mengambil agama kamu. Sesungguhnya aku telah bertemu dengan 70 orang di Masjid Nabi ini, yang menyatakan telah berkata fulan bahawa Rasulullah salallahualaihiwassalam bersabda (menyampaikan hadis). Sesungguhnya jika salah seorang daripada mereka itu diamanahkan untuk menjaga Baitulmal, nescaya dia ialah orang yang amanah, namun aku tidak mengambil sesuatu pun (hadith) daripada mereka kerana mereka bukanlah ahli dalam bidang ini (hadith). Tetapi apabila datang kepada kami Muhammad bin Muslim bin Syihab Az-Zuhri walaupun dia masih muda maka kami bersesak-sesak ke pintu rumahnya (untuk belajar hadith) !"

B: Uish, tapi payah la kalu nak tanya apa2 kemusykilan bro. Ak duk hadap buku medic tu x habis2. X sempat nak tanya Ustaz. Ak sokmo tanya Ustaz Azhar Idrus ikut FB ja. Ala yg Koleksi Printscreen Soal Jawab Ustaz Azhar Idrus ( Original ) 2.

A: Kalu ang nak tanya menda2 ang dah tau sejak kecik tp x pasti, buleh la tanya Ustaz2 yg dah blajaq dr guru2 yg bersanad ni. Buleh ja ang nak tanya thru Fb or sms, asalkan org yg ang tanya tu, org yg dipercayai ada ilmu, jgn duk search ja cari jawapan dr ntah sapa2 ntah. Tp, kalu ang nak blaja satu ilmu agama utk amal dan sebagainya, lebih baik ang blaja dgn org yg betul2 ilmunya dr guru yg benar. Ala, mcm medical student nak blaja cmne nak bedah jantung, nak buat colonoscopy etc, mesti belajar dr doktor yg dah belajar dr doktor2 sebelumnya, xkan ang nak blaja dgn abg jaga mayat kat museum tu.Haha.

A: Oit2, ak barely passed je kot Block 1. Ang xyah nak kerap perli ak naa. Tu la mksd ak, cube ko bayangkan blaja AGAMA gune buku ja, kompem2 la x paham, kalu paham pon, lebih byk salah paham dr betul pahamnya.
Kalu blaja gune buku ja, baek ak kuar UIA, bace buku kat rumah, pastu, kuar2 g bedah org. Oke x?

B: Haha, ang x payah nak jadi John Jigsaw sgt la kan. ye2, ak paham. tp, lambat la blaja kitab ikut talaqqi ni. lgpun, talaqqi sekali seminggu ja, tu pun smpat pergi.

A: Perkara penting ang kena paham, kita bukan nak bertalaqqi sbb nak blaja beratus2 kitab yg ada dan jadi ahli hadits ka, ahli fiqah ka. Kita dtg sini nak jadi doktor, so, kompem2 kena utamakan blaja medic yg lecture dr pukul 7 pg sampai 4 ptg 5 hari seminggu nuh. Tp, p talaqqi tiap2 minggu cth talaqqi Ustaz Mustaffa Kamal kat CF Bro tu, sekurang2nya kita ni dpt peringatan setelah asyik leka dgn dunia, dpt dgr mutiara2 ilmu dan dekatkan diri dgn ulama', belajar adab dan akhlak yg mulia. Kita belajaq sikit2 ja, biaq lmbt. Yg penting usaha kita yg Allah tgk, bukan end of the result. Tp, kalu ang buleh jd macam Syeikh Dr Yusri Rushdi al Hasani. That's the best. Tafaddol.

So, what's 'Talaqqi'?

"Talaqi bermaksud perjumpaan atau pertemuan, Tetapi dalam hal ini talaqi bermaksud pengajian ilmu Islam yang disampaikan secara dari guru kepada anak murid secara berdepan dan bil musyafahah (dari mulut ke mulut). Pengajian talaqi ini merupakan satu juzuk dari sunnah Rasulullah apabila Rasulullah menerima wahyu dari Jibril, dan menghafal wahyu tersebut terus dari Jibril. Dalam sesetengah riwayat menyebut Jibril mengarahkan nabi agar tidak tergopoh-gapah dalam menghafaz wahyu. Kaedah pengajian sebegini diteruskan sehingga ke hari ini kerana peraliran ilmu dan pencerahan kitab ulama' yang muktabar disampaikan secara bersanad (dari guru ke guru) sekaligus memelihara keaslian ilmu dan makna penulis kitab tersebut."

Salam and Happy Sunday!

WARNING : This post is intentionally for anyone who supports or wants to get married at young age especially IIUM students.Yes. Early Marriage.

Take note : Most of the IIUM students don't come from Islamic background. For them, coupling before married is a natural thing and they didn't know coupling before nikah is forbidden in Islam before admitting into IIUM.

After they admit into IIUM, they are exposed with the idea that coupling before nikah is forbidden and generally, they understand and know why it's forbidden. Then, they will replace coupling idea with the better idea that is allowed in Islam. Yess, it's a marriage or specifically early marriage.

Basically, they understand that early marriage provides many advantanges in spiritual, social, religious, academically aspects etc. In Islam, there are many hadith (Prophet's sayings) that highlight its advantage and it's recommended in Islam to get married. I don't want to point all those advantages out because I assume many of us know or heard about it. Maybe you can refer in ILuvIslam.com if you don't know.Don't get wrong idea, I fully support this early marriage idea.

Have you ever heard or meet the early young married couple have many problems after getting married for example, their academic performance is getting worse, social and financial problems or worst case scenario, they get divorced?

The main point is before getting married, some of them put the marriage solely as MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THEIR LIFE! I mean as an ABSOLUTE OBJECTIVE! Maybe, many of us didn't realize this because we are consumed with early marriage advantages plus the natural desire to have someone special to live together. (Both of these is not the bad thing, dont get me wrong). Subconciously, they put this as ABSOLUTE objective of their life. Yet, for me, this idea is completely WRONG. The ABSOLUTE OBJECTIVE in Islam is for HEREAFTER. For Allah s.w t.

Marriage is just one of the complementary thing to strengthen our effort and way to achieve true absolute objective.

The person that puts marriage as an absolute objective is analogically like a sprinter that MUST run 400 metres on track to get to the FINISH LINE but he puts the target at 100 metres only. He will run as fast as he can until 100 metres. Then, after 100 metres, he will burn out and assume he already win and race is end. Maybe he will stop and take a nap at 100 metres line while other sprinters run untill the true finish line.The truth is, he must make it to Finish Line that's 300 metres away to go. He's a loser. Geddit?

I guess the main point is I want to make sure you need to know why you want to do something. Even, you want to get married after graduating or while working, without realizing the true objective in marriage or prioritize what is more important, you will face many problems too.

I just want to point this out to make it clear my friend, MARRIAGE is a part of process in our life not true objective! That's all!

Age and Maturity.

Salam and should I say 'Hi' too? Long time no see eh?

Alhamdulillah, today is the day of NINTEEN YEARS I live in this complicated and interesting world. There's a lil bit confusion about my real birthday bcoz in FB, I put my bday on 28th October but,the real one is 29th October. Only some of my friends remember it well ! Yeah, it's today.haha. Nevermind, who cares and I don't care.. The difference is only ONE day.

Typical way to start the post with a question: Have you ever heard the older the people, more matured they are?

Ya, I know. Many people stick to this one "Old people is mature people". I agree old people have more experience than younger one but when it comes to maturity, I guess it's not suitable to say that.

Maturity is not about you have more experience than others. It's not about you know better than others. Maturity is all about how to deal with complicated knowledge and experience that you get in your life and come out with simple and thoughtful opinion that will change part of the world like politics or worldview.

Some old people have vast of experience in certain field but reject everything that is voiced out by young generation is considered as immature.

Mature people always hear other peoples' opinion first. They will not accept or reject others' opinion blindly. They will hear everthing and when it comes to discussion, they will point out the objective of the discussion clearly before start it. They will find the similarities between their opinion and opinion of another side instead of come to find the differences. They tend to reelevate their some parts of their opinion if others' opinion make sense in certain aspect.When it comes to end of discussion, they will accept the differences between their opinion and appreciate it like " Okay, this is my opinion and that's yours".

Reject other opinion and think "I'm always right!" is immature and lead to stupidity.

Every time I go back to my village, I always pretend to be an older people than my real age, for sure I did not tell my age. If I don't reveal it when discussing with older people, they tend, at least hear my opinion or accept it.

If you introduce yourself, " I'm nineTEEN-year-old and still study bla bla bla...", subconciusly, they will take your opinion lightly even though, it's clear your opinion is reasonable.

In FB, I intentionally hide my age and sometimes, older people tend to add me and discuss about many current issues without knowing my real age. For example, about BERSIH, HIMPUN, philosophy, politics, health issues, current world news etc. Maybe, my opinion sounds stupid or simple for them but at least you will hear their mature opinion and you can learn something.

Age doesn't represent maturity. So, don't be an arrogant people. When you feel you're smarter than others, you're considered as a STUPID person.

Then, always hear other opinion first even though it comes from a kid.You will find a diamond of knowledge.

ps: Pardon me if my english is horrible and have many grammatical mistakes. It's about..let see. 1,2,3 4 hmmm... 5 months I didn't blog at all or write something in English. :'D

How To Memorize Al Quran Kareem

I got an interesting article from my friend and I guess I should share this post with other Muslims in this Ramadhan. Honestly, I never try this technique but InshaAllah, I'll try to apply this technique.

Al Quran Kareem

"In this post, you’ll learn one of the most effective strategies I’ve ever come across for doing your hifz of the Quran and building a very close relationship with Allah (swt) in the process…

So, this hifz technique was taught by the Algerian Shaykh Zakariya al-Siddiqi who teaches at the Institute of Human Sciences in France and is one of the foremost scholars of Quran today.

He memorised it by the age of 9 and dedicated his life to studying and teaching it, and he once told us the story of one of his friends. His friend was an engineering student, who was a ’Fresher’ about to embark on a 5 year degree. Let’s call him Ahmed…

Ahmed was an intelligent student who followed one of the oft-forgotten Sunnah’s of Success…

Quran Memorization Tip 1: Wake Up Early

He woke up earlier than most people. In fact, he woke up on time to get to the Mosque to pray Fajr every day. When he got home from the mosque, instead of busying himself with the internet or watching television, he spent the first few minutes of each day memorising the Quran.

Quran Memorization Tip 2: Each Day Memorise Less Than You Think You Can

Ahmed made a firm commitment to memorise the Quran, but instead of rushing in and trying to memorise one or two pages each day (like his friends who gave up before long), he confined himself to learning 5 lines per day.

This worked out to be about 20-30 minutes per day for him.

Quran Memorization Tip 3: Get Familiar First

In order to overcome the initial unfamiliarity with the new verses, he spent the first few minutes each day actually writing out the 5 lines of that day onto a small sheet of paper.

He spent the next few minutes reciting them over and over, and then attempted to memorise them.

Quran Memorization Tip 4: Keep Today’s Verses Close At Hand

As Ahmed went about his day, he often found that he had a few chunks of time – several minutes each. During these times, such as waiting for the bus, or waiting for a teacher to turn up to a class, Ahmed would try to remember the 5 lines from that morning.

To aid his memory, he kept the sheet that he wrote out that morning folded in his pocket, and would pull it out if he was struggling.

Quran Memorization Tip 5: Use What You Memorise In Every Single Salah

To further support his memory, every prayer he prayed that day, he would recite the same 5 verses of Quran that he learned that morning. In each aka’, he would alternate between the 5 lines from that day, and the 5-10 lines he learned the previous days. And remember…

Quran Memorization Tip 6: Keep Track Of Your Goal

With the Uthmani script of the Quran, there are exactly 15 lines per page. So, by the end of the week, Ahmed had not only memorised 2 whole pages of the Quran, but he had written them out in full, too… a very blessed act if ever there was one.

Quran Memorization Tip 7: Perfect Your Tajweed As You Go

On the weekend, Ahmed would visit a local scholar of Quran recitation, and would revise with him the 2 pages he had just memorised, and have a go at the 2 pages he would be working on the following week. This way, he was certain to learn the Quran with accurate tajweed and beautiful recitation.

There was one other secret to Ahmed’s success.

The Spiritual Secrets Of Successful Memorisation…

Once a week, on a weekend evening (usually on a Friday night), Ahmed would wake up in the middle of the night, and pray Tahajjud. During his special Tahajjud prayer, Ahmed would recite the whole two pages he had learned that week, and consolidate them.

At this point, the Shaykh mentioned that perhaps one of the reasons so few people manage to wake up and do this special prayer, which is highly recommended by the Quran and by our beloved Prophet (saw), is that we don’t have anything to recite.

We have so little Quran memorised that there’s no fun or enjoyment in the challenge of waking up for Tahajjud, and we often find even the fard prayers a ’chore’ instead of a pleasure.

The Results…

You can imagine Ahmed’s excitement and feeling of achievement and success 3 months after he started, when he had memorised the entire 1st Juz!

It’s not just the feeling of success and empowerment that the Quran gave him, but also the deep connection with Allah (SWT) he felt every single day.

You can only imagine how proud he must have felt of himself, when upon graduation Ahmed not only received a 1st class degree in engineering (he was 3rd in his class), but he had also officially memorised the entire Quran. He was a hafidh.

Shaykh Zakariya pointed out a final lesson from this blessed brother.

The biggest achievement he made was not to memorise the Quran. The biggest achievement he made was to be deeply connected with the Quran every single day for 5 years.

That connection with Allah (SWT) is what made Ahmed so special. That deep link with the Creator is what keeps life in perspective and is what helped Ahmed to keep on track with the little weekly targets he set for himself.

One can only imagine what happened to Ahmed’s levels of personal fulfilment, Iman and taqwa, as he went back every single day to develop this ritual of ihsan (spiritual excellence). Each day he woke up for Fajr and wrote out another 5 lines of Quran, his self-esteem and self-confidence soared…

This picture was taken from the teater "Menunggu Kata Dari Tuhan" at UIAM. This teater is all about Kaab bin Malik a.s, the Companion of the Prophet (acted by Sabri Yunus) waiting for the repentance from God because he didn't go to War of Tabuk without any reason.

This is the story that I read when I was Form 3 at Surau Sekolah. For me, it is the longest hadith in the Story of the Prophet's Companion Book.

Please, I recommend you to read his story how hard he want to get repentance from God. Serius menangis terharu time first time bace dulu.

Rase cuak ja kalu masuk Science Stream ni kantoi.

Tapi, selalu tenangkan diri sendri . Sume mende kite blaja kene ikut level2. Dari level senang ke susah. cth time umor 3 tahun, truih blaja Add Math, mesti susah gile. *exception for genius*

So, skrang ni. Lepas belek2 buku "Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment", apasal term2 lg la pelik?. Terpikir lepas dapat official letter MBBS dari main campus Kuantan.

BETOL KE AKU NAK WAT MEDIC?

Miscalculate the amount of caffeine I should take, I end up do not sleep this whole night.

Insomnia? That zombiely disease was already being thrown away from my life. I try to make sure daily amount of caffeine is sufficiently taken. A morning without coffee is like sleep.

When I try to sleep this night, I pick up my Walkman and listen to some song to make me sleepy. Well, it doesnt work and I get my handphone to check what time is it right now.

*4.47 AM*

So, I can calculate how much I could sleep to make sure I get ready for the class.Hmmm... tomorrow is mid semester exam.

Subconsciously, I check one by one all the messages that I got before this and realize there's too many sms from my fellow friends but LACK of sms from my family. It's not because they didnt sms me, but i'm too lazy to reply them. I guess when all my family members live away from home i.e. hostel, it make our relationship bond weaker and we don't clearly know what's going in our family.

Well, that explains why every time I came back home, I feel like a stranger in my own house.

For the record, no. We don't have any family problem. Just ordinary problem like everyone else.

Owh, whatever, dosser! Sleep.

Maybe, 'war' is a big word. I'm talking about fighting or ..hmmm.. maybe, the suitable word is war.

It easy to spark something using stick-and-stone method, aggressive method to oppress or annihilate another side that you hate.

It is simple just like this.Follow these steps.

1. You meet someone that is based on your first impression, he will harm you, or not suitable to hang out with and then, he did something for example, always back bitting someone, or bragging bout himself being a brilliant teacher pet kid. I mean anything that you don't like or you hate. Anything that seems to you is NOT YOUR TYPE.

(rebellious man not comfortable with religious one, or "I-am-a-nice-person" so called person avoid someone that seems "you're-can't-be-better-than-me".) get it?

2.You avoid to talk or you talk with him for desperately important cause only (for sure, your interest only).

3.You just see anything bad about him. Negative.Dark side.He's no better than me.

4. When you feel insecure like he will take over your interest, maybe your best friend, your reputation or anything.

5. Start to spread bad news about him.( one of the 'war' methods).

6. In your mind, "I want to annihilate him, he must die or can't even lift his finger, rotting in the hell created by me" (expression meh)

Easy,right.? Many of us, when we meet someone that for us, "not-suitable-for-me", maybe not suitable as a friend,or a classmate or whatever role you want.

We will hurt him physically or emotionally.(macam budak2 time skolah kutuk cikgu yg dorang benci or reject bdak2 yg korang anggap PELIK.huhu. ) This concept applies in bully concept and also in bigger world.That is war.

Just like Bush sparked the war with Iraq for AN unreasonable reason (without any clear proof) that Iraq has nuclear weapon. End of war.No such thing "nuclear weapon".WTFish?

Just like the Romanian attacked other kingdoms to show they are powerful, strongest man and conquer the world (at the end. they're not)

Just like the Egyptian government oppressed and banned the organisation that opposed them like Muslim Brotherhood for a "terrorism and extremism" reason.

Simple question. After we annihilate (literally or figuratively) the other side that we hate. After that...WHAT?

They will always follow your order just like a slave?

They will never fight back?

They will smile always and accept anything happen to them?

Answer : ABSOLUTELY NO.!

They will fight back. If all their race or organisation already being completely annihilated by you, their successor,their son, their children will fight back.

Even, after 30 or 50 or hundred years, they will fight for their right, their belief, not like a puppet.

Because, they are HUMAN.They have HOPE and BELIEF.

And if another side does similar thing when they win?. They oppress the lost side or pay for revenge.?

The cycle will keep recycle.

War is an interesting bloody addictive game without a clear FINISH LINE.

The important thing to stop this cycle is we MUST UNDERSTAND each other.

Guess what?Human always restrict themselves to do THIS SIMPLE SINGLE STEP because they think, this step is complicated one to accomplish. Mental Block.

ps: Got the idea after playing "Rome: Total War". It is quite cool and addictive. Yeah, I as the Rome attack other kingdoms to conquer the world but in long term, that is IMPOSSIBLE because other side will fight back for sure.and sorry for my English. lame x blog weh.haha.

I've been watching a video of Malaysia vs Indonesia football match of AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 (not final) at GBK,Indonesia lately. There's a scene of when Malaysia national anthem-Negaraku being 'boo'-ed when the anthem been played, by SOME Indonesian fans (if Malaysian fan did that too, that wouldn't be nice.:p).

What I'm trying to focus is WHAT'S GOING ON?. Not to condemn those Indonesian fans.

SOME Indonesian always curse Malaysia like 'Maling-Sial' (Theft=Maling,). They said Malaysian stole too many thing like their culture, their island and etc. Come on, we're in the same Titanic II ship but in the different cabin. (Malay in Malaysia and Indonesia have same ancestor,forefather). Are you trying to say, we also kidnapped Parameswara,his father and grandfather from Indonesia to build a new government?.Logically, both of us would have similar culture.Serumpun.!

SOME Malaysian would say something "Ditch that, Indonesian in Malaysia just a maid or construction worker.Ungrateful people. We give you a job."...Wait!. ohoho..WHO ARE YOU to say something like that. Are you the one that give ALL Indonesian those jobs?.Come on. They indirectly built our beloved country. Most of workers that built KLCC, Sepang Circuit and other thing are Indonesian.( I say 'Most' because there were some Malaysians worked there like my uncle).So.we're merely a human.Weak Human.

Just for a break.Almost every day, there are some cats always leave behind its poop a.k.a 'cat perfume' in our hostel and every time, i want to go to bathroom or other places, my brain keep thinking "curse-u-cat!-even though-u're-so-cute". Next day, those poops gone.Thank God!. Personally, I thank those Indonesian worker that clean and throw those poops. The student want to clean that thing by ourselves?..pfffttt..maybe, there's slightly chance,they will clean it.Maybe.

Thats why, I hate to attach on racism, but would prefer to attach on my religion,Islam.No boundaries. All human is same.

If this thing still happens to some extent, can you imagine Titanic II crush an 'iceberg' and all of us suffer and die. Please.Just stop. purghh..I'm sick of it.Please be matured.Even my 3-years-old lil brother can think about this straight :P

The question that some strangers (cikgu ke, bdak2 baru kenal ke) always asked me when we start to know each other.

Reaction : Confused face.

"Pardon me, did u ask me whether ,where i live or where i born?"

I can answer that question with many answers.Sabah? Sarawak? Kelantan? Terengganu? Pahang?

Funny things, if they ask me,"which district?".ohoho. sorry, too many answers to choose, mate!

Sabah and Sarawak.

- I spent my most childhood time in Sabah n Sarawak.Live in a bungalow (sewa je) with other families. That house have many scorpions like we have many pet cats around our typical house (Uia, kat UKC byk gle).

-Sabah, lived at an island known as Pulau Penyu (sounds like Pulau Penyu, i guess.kinda.). Always ate turtle egg.haha.

Kelantan.

- Stayed at my village.There are two moments I remember most. First, I spared with another boy, kampung boy.Well I lost after he used fighting technique like a Thai Boxer. Come on. that's not bad after all for me as an Island Boy. Island boy vs Kampung boy. perghh epic.!

- next day, when we played "Police Entry" or known as "Buaya Duduk", me, that didnt know much bout its rule, used "lastik" to shoot one of these boys and he cried. urgh,come on,I thought he's a tough guy. U're kampung boy, rite?..after that day, i never play that game again with them.hoho.

Pahang.

-Pahang is the biggest state in Peninsular Malaysia, so, there were many districts I lived, one of them is Kuantan. First day I enrolled in that school, I spoke Kelantan dialect with teachers and friends. "Mung nok g mano pahni?..g make jom?" or "Ni negri Pehe dop?" and they will have this 'this-boy-is-from-another-planet?-or-he's-an-alien?' face.haha. after few months, i could speak Kuantan dialect.( every district in Pahang have different dialect eventhough there are in the same state).

Terengganu.

-I just stayed in this state for just 6 months bcoz my dad had a problem with his co-workers, i guess.huhu. then, my house now in Kuala Lipis.

My sis tend to speak standard dialect or KL dialect.sometimes Kelantan dialect.

Ironically, I can easily squeeze in any state-based group. When I join conversation of Kelantan group, I tend to speak Kelantan and same apply on another group. Sounds i have many friends rite?

The truth is they are just an acquaintance, not a close friend. I guess I just have 3 or 4 close friends.huhu.

It seems the acquaintance also bring great help in certain situation just like Malcolm Gladwell said-

it's been awhile i didnt post anything. i just woke up from very long and deep sleep.(u decide whether it's literally or figuratively)

recently, i just learned about probability in Math. It reminds me about my youth back then. SPM, high school n etc. Suddenly, i feel so old and wish, i already achieved my targets that i set back then. ( the truth is, i'm not.)

I'm not trying to teach probability here.( if u want to learn it, ask my lec)

The basic thing about probability is how many ways we could find to achieve something ,for example, 100++ ways to unlock a briefcase that has a combination lock of digits and letters. (i'm not teaching, just explain to make sure u can refresh it back about probability :P)

Something is related about probability and my life.

Funny thing, it's how I try to find my true self in this wild world. It's all about try and error.

Throughout this year, I always want to find myself..my true self. so, there are many times I pretend as someone else,to try out whether this or those personality is suitable for me or not.

Sometimes, i'm just using my theory to choose the most suitable persona. Leader?. Pious? Athlete? Carefree?

Am i hypocrite?..i dont know, try to find out by urself. that's not the main issue here.

oh, yes. i forgot about main factor that i couldn't find myself. that's principle.that's just like a fundamental of probability.

If I know exactly what i'm looking and craving for, i will narrow down my big scope. Just like how we want to find the combination lock for a briefcase. Our focus : combination lock, not its color, its size nor its weight.

oke. done. now, i want to find my true self. just do it but not blindly, it based on my principle.

i will find that combination lock and unlock my 'self'' briefcase.

Now, i'm already on the right train to become the SAHEL AKMAL.

HOPE is a very strong and unique word.

Barack Obama also used this word instead hundred of words for his campaign when he ran for the President of United States post.

Hope is a word that completely can fit in ourselves.

You hope for a better world,
They hope there are no wars or economic problems,
Muslim hope the world can see Islam is a peace religion,
We hope we can become a rich person in 2-3 years.
We hope everything is going smoothly without any problem in our life.
We hope we can live or study abroad at overseas.

"Hope" makes human can strive and reach their maximum capability to get something they want in their life.

We hope for good grade for exam result.So,we study hard and smart all day, we ask our lecturer anything we don't understand, we buy many reference books, we make a study group to discuss our subject each other.

BUT,

How about if all your plans for "hundred years"didn't worked as you HOPE it supposed to be.

You hope to get an opportunity to study abroad at overseas but you stuck at local university.
You hope to become a great chef , but, you come out as a guard.
You hope for beautiful wife but you didn't have a chance to get married for many years.

REGRET.

As humans, the feeling of regret will come out and unavoidable, especially when what we want already in front of very eyes, but, somehow, for whatever reason, we can't get it. Maybe we lack of guts, support, financial problems, or we under a circumstances that make it impossible for us to get what we hope.

This is a situation for the phrase " If only I....." easily slips in?

If only I study harder and smarter,
if only I didn't waste my time with something unreasonable,
If only I know how to manage my personality.

So, our beloved Prophet already gave us as an good advice.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported : " The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, " A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good.Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. ( If you're afflicted in any way), do not say , "If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such" but only say," Allah so determined and did as He willed". The word 'if' opens the gates of satanic thoughts.

Sahih Muslim.

Regret is a very negative feeling. Sometimes, because of regret, people do something stupid like didn't believe what was happened, suicide or kill other person, become a crazy person or the worst is they didn't believe on God. Nauzubillah.

There is no positive outcome if you just keep thinking " If only I...." for something that already happened except if you're thinking like :

"If I study harder next time, maybe I will get a better grade."

It's okay if you're thinking to reflect your own mistakes and change for the next time.

"When one door closes, another opens. But, we often look so REGRETFULLY upon the closed door that we don't see the one that has opened for us."

So, how to decrease or make that regret feeling disappear from our life?

Allah, our God already promised us :

Abu Said and Abu Hurairah reported that our Prophet ( Peace be upon him) said " No fatigue, nor disease,nor anxiety, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his SIN for that."

Al Bukhari and Muslim.

Come on, an obvious choice for us as a human that always do many mistakes and sins.

Just imagine, you're walking to go to a supermarket happily, and accidentally, you hit a rock and suddenly fell.

Two choices :

-Keep thinking " If only I had not went to the supermarket, then, I wouldn't fell" or

-Quickly thank Allah for giving you an opportunity to expiate some sins.

We as a Muslim already given a promise by our God that He will expiate our sins if anything 'bad' happens.
We are lucky right?

This is based on my experience that my unit had been assigned to invite the exhibitors for main event in our university. We set an ambitious target to invite Petrosains, Planetarium, Pusat Sains Negara and etc.

Hey, there's nothing wrong about being an ambitious,right?.That's what we supposed to be.

There is one week before due date and we still been rejected by all those people that are busy handle their own event. Oh.! We already contacted many exhibitors. Just imagine, you have less than a week to invite someone to fill in a large space in our university's hall and no one can't come.

I kept thinking if only I had been assigned for another task, maybe just a Special Task, that will be no problem for me.

But, there is one question keep puzzling in my mind that time " How about I manage to handle this problem, that will be a new EXPERIENCE, right Sahel?"

Maybe after this, I know how to sweet talk exhibitors to come to our main event.

I know how to communicate with someone like Dato' or CEO of company.

I know how to manage if there's no exhibitor for exhibition.(huh?)

Then,I texted Bro Afiq, my close friend a.k.a my co-advisor to ask his opinion how to deal with this problem.

First sms I got from him :

Plan for the worst, hope for the best, Bro.!

Good ,simple advise to solve my problem?. For me, my answer is YES. (Thanks Bro! )

I already forgot that we as a human just PLANNING for what we want and only Allah has a will to make it as a success or not.

After I contacted all those exhibitors, I came out with the BACK UP PLAN- the worst plan I didn't want to do- to setup our own booth and make our own exhibition about Muslim Figure in Medicine World. huhu

When I watch Kamen Rider, that HENSHIN (Change ) keep me changing in my life.

Is it not easy to change rite,?..I admit it. That's a fact!.

Maybe, your parent or your friends,they always keep asking you to change yourselves. Maybe your habit, your attitude or just your appereance but no one can change us, except....yeah..US..! Only us can change ourselves.

I have this idea that everyone want to change.At least, everyone would think about it even just one sec.

The poor want to change become a rich person

The bad criminal want to change become a good one.

The burnt out person want to change become a motivated.

The just-little-ugly man want to become a handsome and charismatic person.

You have that tought rite?

Maybe I'm not a suitable person to teach you how to change but, I'm just saying.

So,here we are.

1.Don't change ..........drastically.

Oh.! Let me share you my story.

My first year at university, I had this feeling, I mean burnt out feeling. My life is confusing, studying inconsistently, boring life and yada yada yada.

Then, one day, I made a decision to CHANGE after I read some motivation books. I set my new vision and targets, I made a timetable,change my room's appereance, change my personality, always go to the mosque, i CHANGE everything ,like I'm the most motivated and systematically person in this planet and guess what?..yeah, after one week, I forgot my vision, hardly seen my timetable,and that's all..!, I felt like a hypocrite that time because I didnt felt that was myself.

That will happen when you want to change yourselves everything DRASTICALLY. Change is a good thing, Don't get me wrong BUT if you change smoothly, you will achieve your own target.

How about this analogy (terpengaruh dgn Cg Ali,haha.Cg Ali, Cg Ali ), you own Proton SAGA car that you always drive it to go to your workplace or your university.

One day, you send it to workshop and they modify EVERYTHING about that car, its engine, its bumper, its appeareance and become a Mitsubishi LANCER EVO. Yeah.! Only one day . How does it feel when you see it?..Do you FEEL that car is YOUR Proton SAGA when you drive and see it?..Absolutely NO.!..It become completely different from your car and you feel like "This is not my car, where is my car huh?"

How about this? You modify that car, but you don't change it drastically. For example, this year, you change its tires, after one year, you change its bumper, and so on. After 10 years, it become like this.

Cool...eh? Different huh?.but, if you keep driving that car ( not literally ) in that 10 years and keep modifying. After 10 years, when you drive that car, its seat, its smell, it is familiar rite?..and you know and feel

" This is MY car..!"

Exception :

If someone must change drastically like become a Muslim revert. That's completely different. They must face many hardship to change themselves and please guide them. Tabik spring dol..!

2.Set your target and REWARD yourselves.

When you want to change, you must set reasonable target. Different types of change have different targets.

For example, you always sleeping when lecture time, so, how bout ur target is to hold ur sleep for just one HOUR?

Another example, you want to deactivate your FB account for the rest of your life, and how about you deactivate it for just one WEEK first time, and after you achieve that target, reward yourselves.Maybe just a candy or shopping time, I don't care, choose your own reward. Then, after two days, set new target to deacvticate it for one month.Keep doing it until you can deactivate for the rest of ur life. Easy huh?..Target, reward, target , reward.

3.Maintain

This is the most difficult part about change. Maintain your achievement.

My close friend that I know her since childhood. One day, I don't know, maybe her head hit a rock or something, she changed became a very good girl, start recite al-Quran Kareem everyday, always helping people, talking like an educated woman, like "Are-u-sure-this-is-Rin (bukan nama sebenar ) ?". Alhamdulillah, that's a good sign, but after maybe one month, she turned back to become her oldself.

There are two factors that we need to focus to maintain our achievement.

First, you need a guidance that can always support you, give advice, guide you like friends, parent or teachers.

About Rin, no one guide and advice her .So, she was easily burnt out.!

2nd. Knowledge.

Yeah, knowledge. If you want to change and maintain it, you must have your knowledge by your side.That knowledge will guide you when there is no one to guide you.

By knowledge, you will find a good reason why you change.

Geddit?

so, let CHANGE...!

Have you ever find someone that can live by himself?..i mean like Mr. Lonely or worst than that..?

Seriously, i admit that, it's not possible to find a true-friend-until-you-die friend IF you take account to many impossible characteristics to become your friend like charismatic, stylo, macho, can make a good joke, rich and etc. Hey, wake up!..Nobody is PERFECT,rite?

When I set my mind that my friends are not perfect and put our difference aside, it's too easy to find anyone as a friend. Maybe, you just don't know how to make a friend (not because you're an arrogant ) because he/she have too many differences between you.

My Abah told me, "Tegor je sume org, Dato' ke, pengemis ke, sume darah warna merah..manusia juga".( "Just friendly talk with anybody, a Leader or beggar, all of them is human with red blood too like us" )

so, how about just say ' Hi..! ' if you encounter them or maybe just smile, if you don't have enough courage to say 'Hi..' (too shy person only.)

If you are a Muslim, spread the Salaam...Assalamualaikum..hoho

Do this and expect some difference in your life. =)

Elder brother...

Oh..I'm the eldest brother in my family..and I think it's been awhile I didnt give any advice or some sort..you know..brother's job.

and Mid Sem Break, Ibu asked me to send my sis to Kuala Lipis by bus because there is something important that she must attend.

Seriously, when we are talking each other, she is like a stranger, I didn't know her problems, her friends, her concern like I cant read her mind (everyone cannot read people's mind..i mean Literally cannot).*All my siblings studying at the hostel school*
When she started discuss about her problems, like 'why this is happening to her'.. about many problems.

I said " How about I tell you the story of the Japanese fishermen ( I read it in Life is an Open Secret ) ? Then, you reminisce whether your problem is REAL problem or it's just some kind of..."

*speak in Kelantanese dialect*

The Japanese have always love fresh food. Fresh crabs, fresh prawns, fresh fish, fresh sushi, and anything fresh, but the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades.So, to feed these Japanese people, fishing boats become bigger.

The farther the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish. PROBLEM?..yeah..there is a problem here.The trip took more than a few days and the fish would not be fresh.Like I said, the Japanese only love fresh food, and hate the taste of not-so-fresh fish.

Problem?..So, they need solution here.They install freezers in their boats and they will freeze the fish while catching the fish at sea.Freezers allowed them to go farther and stayed longer.

Maybe the Japanese is too picky, they could taste the differences between fresh and frozen, and they did not like the taste of frozen fish.The frozen fish being sold at lower price.

"Any idea to solve this problem?."asked me.

This time, they installed fish tanks.The idea was this- they would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks-ALIVE. After little trashing around,the fish would stop moving.They were tired and dull, but they were still alive right?

How about this idea?..Nah, FAILED!. The Japanese could still taste the difference. Since the fish did not move for days, they had lost their oh-too-fresh-fish taste ( Picky2 Japanese,huh ! ).They preferred the taste of lively fish, not sluggish fish. "We want lively fish...!, We want fish..!, We want want fresh fish...!"

That is when they had their brilliant idea. Not sluggish fish, not frozen fish.

They came out with new idea. To keep the fish tasting fresh all the time,the Japanese fishermen still put live fish into the tanks, but, now, they add a small shark to each tank..! The shark eats a few fish, but most of the fish arrive in a very lively state, because they now have to swim actively to avoid being eaten by the shark (eventhough , they will being eaten by that Picky Japanese). The fish are challenged.

My sis asked, "So, do you want to tell me we must always use many solution to solve our problem?.."

Me " Kind of, but there is something more important than that."

...........

Me "The adversities, the problem that we face in our lives are actually our little sharks- sharks that we need to make sure we stay awake,alive, vibrant and active (so, we can be eaten by that picky Japanese because we're fresh fish.hoho ).These sharks will make us more competent, intellegent, matured, and persistent in our lives.

How about we begin to slack off in our duties (maybe sometime,I did that), growing tired?...

Yup,we will be eaten! (not literally)

Everyday was plain and boring day for me,I started my day wake up to perform subuh prayer and go to the class, and ended up with finishing my assignments or blogging. Nothing interesting,right?

But,i'm always believe that will be a turning point in our life either that change our personality or our skills.

That day, one of *MEDCY committee member, Fahmi, asked me "Bro,you want to become a committee? because i want to fill in nomination form to nominate u",

"Dont kidding me bro,haha,are you sure? Up to you bro, that's ur rights to nominate anyone.".

I didnt care about all those nomination things because i'm sure that i will be not selected as a committee, i didnt have any intention to become a committee in my life !

FYI,MEDCY make an event known as *AGM to select new committees and using new system, all 1st and 2nd years must fill in nomination form a week before AGM to become a committee either your friend nominates you or you nominate yourselves.

That day, nominee must deliver a speech in 1 minute without any preparation as a manifesto in front of hundreds of students.

I keep asking myself,"Sahel, are u sure u want to become a committee? This is all about responsibility.are u sure? are u sure?"

SPEECH , that is something I never did once in my life and that night, President of MEDCY said to nominees,"All of you must deliver a speech"...

haha,that's a joke right?.I never deliver a speech and now, I must deliver without any preparation,OK, I'm done! but my principle is if u start something, u must finish it all. Futhermore, I want to try something DIFFERENT.hoho

Alhamdulillah, that night, i have my great teacher that always by my side and never let me down.He always teaches me something new .i still remembered that, once i joined PLKN,and i must recite a poem in PLKN Culture Night in front of hundreds of people. He teached me how to do it, in front of me when i recite that poem. weird rite?haha

there are some tips to deliver a speech teached by Sir EXP(for BEGINNEERS only,hoho)

1. Never make an eye contact with audience if you deliver a speech without any preparation.

2.Always match your body language and how you look.(thanx, Fikri and Luqman for your suggestion what i must wear)

3.Never say to audience that u're not ready.

4. Use simple word and easy to understand, for example, if not all of audience can understand English, just speak in Malay because we just want to make them understand what we talking about.

5.Lower your pitch. A low tone of voice is considered authoritative than a high-pitched voice,which is associted with fear and anger.

6. Never state your achievements in school or university.That's not gonna help u because there are hundred of students out there that have higher achievement than yours. They just want to vote a LEADER.

6.Vary the speed. Speaking fast creates a mood of anticipation and energises audience. Speaking slowly and calmly creates trust.

7.Well-placed pause for effect. Pause when you stop at important point. Audience will eagerly await what you want to say next.

8.Leave a simple but impactful conclusion or question to interact with audience, e.g."Never judge a book by its cover"

Immediately Mrs. Evans was struck with an all consuming panic as she did not readily know the answer. 'Hmm, oh boy, that's a toughie,' said Evans, as Vieira did her level best to hide her disbelief. 'I mean, I'm sure I've heard of some of these things before, but I have no idea how large they would be.'

Evans made the decision to use the first of her three lifelines, the 50/50. Answers A and D were removed, leaving her to decide which was bigger, an elephant or the moon. However, faced with an incredibly easy question, Evans still remained unsure.

'Oh! It removed the two I was leaning towards!' exclaimed Evans... 'Darn. I think I better phone a friend.' Mrs.. Evans asked to be connected with her friend Betsy, who is an office assistant...

'Hi Betsy! How are you? This is Kathy! I'm on TV!' said Evans, wasting the first seven seconds of her call. 'Ok, I got an important question. Which of the following is the largest? B, an elephant, or C, the moon. 15 seconds hun.'

So I think I'd like to ask the audience,' said Evans.

Asked to vote on the correct answer, the audience returned 98% in favor of answer C, 'The Moon.' Having used up all her lifelines, Evans then made the dumbest choice of her life..

'Wow, seems like everybody is against what I'm thinking,' said the too-stupid-to-live Evans. 'But you know, sometimes you just got to go with your gut... So, let's see... I'm going to have to go with B, an elephant... Final answer.'

Evans sat before the dumbfounded audience, the only one waiting with bated breath - and was told that she was wrong, and that the answer was in fact, C, 'The Moon.'

p/s: i'm not trying to humiliate her, but, that's what happened when you live in your own world, you think u're clever enough to live in this world. Even, the genius, Albert Enstein can become a dumb person, if he think he is clever person.

In fact, everyone is stupid but, we are clever in different field, like a taxi driver knows many things about taxi than a doctor and a doc knows many things about medicine than a taxi driver.So, never compare yourselves with other people and think you're more clever or you're more dumb.

it's been awhile i didnt post anything..even i think i want to lock my blog and stop blogging..

it's because i'm kinda confused WHY i blog,for what reason i post something...because i think i'm not blogging because i want to blog

when i remembered back then, i want to blog because i want to improve my English,.i want to express my own opinions without any influence of other things.

Recently, i'm blogging because i want to please people to read my blog,i want to show to everyone "i'm the best" and i'm kinda hypocrite.

One of my friends that is old timer blogger since he was at secondary school, he said his blog now is all about his bright side, not original content and maybe there was copy-paste from another blog.

Then, he find himself blogging because he just want to increase his followers and pleased them. That's kinda of sad, rite? he know he is lying to his ownself and now, he start another blog that represent himself.

so, i must take time to make sure, i blog because I WANT IT!...

My mother is one of the most positive people I have ever known, and I have learned so much from her throughout my life. No matter the situation or how bad things appeared, she always looked on the bright side. Her entire world as a housewife might be caving in, but it was still a 'great day'. Have u ever been around people like that?

I called it 'active hope'.That kind of relentless hope is contagious. She always happy-delighted that Allah had given her a brand new day- and sge know that, tommorow was going to be even better.

One year ago, I received my SPM result and with self-cofidence, sure, I thought I will get straight A's....but,unfortunately, I just got 9A1 and 1 B3...huh?....I thought B3 is a biology subject but, it was an English subject...!...English?..

While my parents hugged me and said" Congratz" many times, I keep asking myself...why English?...i'm not a loser in English, I used to get highest mark in my class before..and for sure,i cant apply for any scholarship to pursue my study at overseas..

I began to sulk and then I began to list all my success from PTS (Penilaian Tahap Rendah) until PMR,..my results were always - flying colour-I was a perfectionist before- how tragic it was for me, i tend to climb to the peak of everest and that day, i was buried in the ground.

I let my negative comments pour out of my mouth while Ibu just looked at me with an upbeat smile, the same she always had, and after I finished my pity party, she simply replied, "Well, you had a great life, my son- You always tend to get good grades, and wow, 9A's,,what a great gift..! and everyone is happy with ur result"...yeah..i can see my abah with his happy face, my friends, my teachers..hmm.."i dont know,Ibu, maybe, u'r right"
now, I always want to improve my english and one of my alternative ways is through blogging.=)

And when I didnt get JPA scholarship for PILN and just get it for local university, Monash University,Sunway...I started to think my dream is over..but, she said " there are thousands out there want to get JPA scholarship, but Thank God.. you get it and also get a chance to pursue your studies as medical student rite?"..then, I asked JPA to change my scholarship for Monash U to IIUM..wooh..

What an amazing way of thinking!.No matter what ciricumstances comes along,that woman always has a great attitude.

Did she recognize the reality of harsh situation and struggle?..Sure she did!..at her chilhood,she just a daughter came from very poor family, and she managed to achieve her dream to become a teacher...!

What she chose to do about those situations was something else entirely.She chose to have hope that a better day was coming, and to believe that God always has everything under control. I realize now that I actually grew up in a household with a motivational speaker. She continously saw the positive side to every difficulties in life.

Although her food and lifestyle choices have not always been the best, my mother is getting older now but she is still experiencing vibrant health. I believe much of that good health is due her amazing ability to control her thought life. She tell herself what she is going to think, rather than allowing circumstances and problems in life to dictate her attitude.

A positive attitude won't give you everything in life, but it will bring you more than negative thinking. The way we think is a choice. So if you have a chance to choose one attitude or another, choose to be positive.We become what we think about. A person is what they think about all day long.

Our thoughts have tremendous power. if you sow a thought, you reap an action, if you sow an action, you reap a habit, if you sow a habit, you reap character, and if you sow character, you reap a destiny for a lifetime.

What we continually think about today determines who we will become tommorow. What does that means to us?...It's simple- we have to change the way we think..!..Controlling our thought life is extremely important..!

I just want to post about my family,my brothers, my sisters in Gaza.=(

Lifeline 4 Gaza is a collaborative effort between Malaysian NGOs to join an international campaign to break years of Israel siege on Gaza. They are working along with Free Gaza Movement who is based in Cyprus, IHH in Turkey, MERC and Kispa Indonesia, and other NGOs from USA, Greece, France, Sweeden, Germany, Italy, Venezuella and many more.

The flotilla is expected to depart Istanbul on 15th May 2010, comprising 20 ships and cargo boats to be laden with building supplies, generators, medical equipment and educational materials. They will sail through the Mediterranean Sea, carrying members of Parliament from countries around the world as well as high-profile journalists and human rights activists.

why break the siege?

The siege or blockade of Gaza started in June 2007. The blockade was supported by the governments of Egypt and the USA, among other nations. It consists of a land blockade along Gaza’s borders with Egypt and Israel, and a sea blockade maintained by the Israeli navy from three nautical miles offshore. It immediately followed the 2006-2007 economic sanctions against the Palestinian National Authority following the election of Hamas to the Palestinian government.

Prior to 2007 blockade, Israeli military has already imposed blockade of the Gaza Strip and closure of the Gaza International Airport, following the The Al-Aqsa Intifada which broke out in September 2000. The blockade worsened after the creation of a ‘buffer zone’ in September 2001, that would seal all entry and exit points in the Palestinian Territories. After 9 October, 2001, movement of people and goods across the ‘Green Line’ dividing the West Bank from Israel, and between the Gaza Strip and Israel, was halted, and a complete internal closure was effected on November 14, 2001.

More than 1.5 million Gazans have been cut off from the outside world and struggling with desperate poverty. The ongoing siege or blockade of Gaza punishes the entire population, young and old, by restricting the entry of food, medical supplies, educational equipment and building materials, oils, and virtualy any other basic supplies that are essential for a living.

I know someone will said,"naah, for sure, Israel or Egypt will block those supplies for Gaza"Maybe there is high possibilities this supplies will be blocked by Egypt or Israel, but there is also possibility this supplies will be transferred into Palestine. The most important one is, we as a human that always protect other human's rights, have show some efforts to help them.

I have read somewhere a Malay guy said, "why we must bother about Palestine-Israel issues?, if Palestine didn't against Israel, i'm very sure this world is in peace"...jokes!, come on man. okey, why Malay people want a freedom from Britian at 1957?.hmm, if you read history books, for sure, we dont want to be oppressed by those Britian. We want our own rights to manage our country by our own system, same goes with Palestine, they want to live peacefully and want their own rights.

Why do you want to become a doctor?

"Why do you want to be a doctor?"

This is the most frequently asked question when we went to interview to enter Kulliyah/Faculty of Medicine.

"I want to help other"
This is the most common answer given by us. Gold standard answer.
But most of the time, most of us are NOTHING!!

"I want to help the poor, they deserve better treatment."

SOUND FAMILIAR?
It is a standard answer from medical students. A good way to help the poor is to remain in the government service as they simply cannot afford to go to the money-sucking private hospitals. Unfortunately, when they are asked about the reason to reject JPA scholarship......

" Ishhh,need to bond to the government for 10 years, so long, dont want la. Wanna be free."
or, when they are asked whether to remain in the government service......

"Government? Cannot stand the workload,so many on-calls some more, I want to sleep,wanna to private after the compulsory service.
or, when ask to go to the ulu-ulu(rural) area to help the poor.............

"Ha?? NO cinema, NO KFC, NO Shopping malls, NO entertainment, can bored to death, u know....KATAKAN TAK NAK!!

Another standard answer given by medical student is:

"My family member had cancer and I couldn't do anything at that time, so, I want to be a doctor so that I can prevent this. "
Does this sound familiar to you?
If that is your answer
and
yet you are so obsessed with clinical practice
and
show very little interest towards medical research, you are going to the wrong direction.

When facing some terminal or serious diseases, it depends on the researchers who work behind the scene to develop the new treatments.
Doctors?
They only prolong the patient's life, and the result is still the same death

Come on, how on earth can you decide that when you are still very much dependent on your parents for most of the decision.
Obviously, you get the idea from the sample essay in which you need to memorize when you were in primary school.

Yea, of course not rich, they are comparing themselves to Robert Kuok.
Some of you might say, "I can still help others by working in private hospital."
Yea right, they pay a huge amount for your service, basically, you are just selling your skill to them.
They pay for what they deserve but not at the mercy of your kindness.
furthermore, they can sue you if you don't give a good service. Have you ever heard that a kind Samaritan get sued because he/she is not giving a 'good enough' help?
"I sincerely want to help you, yet you sue me because my help is lousy?
I don't doubt that, indeed, there are some students who really have the heart to help others and also to improve the medical services in our country, good for them and I salute them.
But
how many of us are actually one of them? Are you?

Well, after almost 4 years in medical school, try to ask yourself the same old question again,

How can Islam be called the religion of peace, when it was spread by the sword?

It is a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of the adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force. The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was Islam's inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for its rapid spread.

1. Islam means PEACE.

Islam comes from the root word ‘salaam’, which means peace. It also means submitting one’s will to Almighty God. Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one’s will to the will of the Supreme Creator, Allah (swt).

2. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace.

Each and every human being in this world is not in favor of maintaining peace and harmony. There are many who would disrupt it for their own vested interests. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace. It is precisely for this reason that we have the police force, which uses force against criminals and anti-social elements to maintain peace in society. Islam promotes peace. At the same time, Islam exhorts it followers to struggle and fight against oppression. The fight against oppression may, at times, require the use of force. In Islam force may only be used to promote peace and justice.

3. Opinion of historian De Lacy O' Leary.

The best reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword is given by the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book “Islam at the cross roads” (Page 8):

“History makes it clear, however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated."

4. Muslim ruled Spain for 800 years.

Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give the ‘adhaan’, that is the Muslims’ call for prayers.

5. Fourteen million Arabs are Coptic Christians.

Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. For a few years the British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled, but overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword, there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.

6. More than 80% non-Muslim in India.

The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. These Muslim rulers did not use any force in order to convert people to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India consists of non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Indians are testimony today that Islam was not spread by the sword, nor was any force used for conversion to Islam.

7. Indonesia and Malaysia.

Indonesia is a country that has the maximum number of Muslims in the world. The majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. May one ask, “Which Muslim army went to Indonesia and Malaysia?"

8. East Coast of Africa.

Similarly, Islam has spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. One may again ask, if Islam was spread by the sword, “Which Muslim army went to the East Coast of Africa?"

9. Thomas Carlyle.

The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book “Heroes and Hero worship”, refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam: “The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and tries to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can."

10. No compulsion in religion.

With which sword was Islam spread? Even if Muslims had it they could not use it to spread Islam because the Qur’an says in the following verse: “Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error” [Al-Qur’an 2:256]

11. Sword of the Intellect.

It is the sword of intellect. The sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Qur’an says in Surah Nahl, chapter 16 verse 125: “Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious.” [Al-Qur’an 16:125]

12. Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984.

An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235 percent, while Christianity had increased only by a mere 47 percent. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?

13. Islam is the fastest growing religion.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe. Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe is Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?

14. Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson.

Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, “People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMAD (Our Prophet, peace be upon him) was born”.

The author, Dr. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik is a Muslim scholar, public speaker, and writer on the subject of Islam and other comparative religion. Naik is a medical doctor by profession, having attained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Maharashtra. Naik is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation(IRF), a non-profit organization which also owns and broadcasts the free-to-air global Peace TV channel from Mumbai

if you want some tips about how to protect yourselves to get sick without take any antibiotics or supplement....or your loved one always tends to get sick so, you think you must do something to protect that person.

1.Go to the library counter and said to librarian, you want to buy one cheeseburger and soda with loud voice.If he say that,"this is library", just whisper to him " I want one cheeseburger and soda, thank you"

opps...that's like a dumb person, sorry. Again..this is some tips

1. You just become a person live for eat and sleep,dreamless, uninteresting, and never believes of higher possibilities for the human race.
2. If your friend talking about some complicated stuff like facts of medicine or law, just ignore them and dont ever think about it and never tries to acknowledge any subject that concerns the human race.
3. You must remain immature throughout and even after high school. Dont ever questions what is your purpose in this life
4. Never tries to take your ideas any step further.

No,I'm serious right now.

This statement is based on research about in one community, if there is new pandemic disease spreading around like H1N1 and they didnt know any precaution, logically, all those people will get sick.

The reality is not all those people in that community will get sick, but there are several people hard to get sick even they didnt take any antibiotic or good supplement. This is because they are stupid person.

I dont know what is the real definition of stupidity because stupid is subjective but, there are some related information about all these things. Stupid person didnt have many thing to think about, they are just simple person.(stupid and simple is different)

Their stress level is maintained and their emotions are stabilized .So,his immune system is in the best condition automatically.They hard to become angry and please read this post to know about anger.

Think about this way, Jeho (not real person) is stucked in traffic jam, and he knows he is late to go to his workplace and here is the driver who cut him off,but he just ignores him because of his stupidity.When he arrives at his workplace, there is someone just took his parking space that has been rented by him.Again, he thinks that, maybe that is not his parking place.

After that, his boss scolds and fires him, but because he didnt understand what's going on,he just dont understand why he has been fired. He sit on the bench and he start to run away from this world because he think there are many things that he didnt understood. He just run, run and run...running..running...all over this country

and how stupid he is....but, if you notice something, he just relax and his stress level is maintained and he can control his anger unintentionally.

so, when anger can be controlled, the immune system is in the best condition.

Throughout the day,he is frequently upset with his coworkers and angry at his boss because he has been scolded by his boss. Tired and frustrated, he goes home and eat a TV dinner and in one day, you just mad and mad. so,his immune system is shut down twenty-four hours a day because he is mad.His stress level is increase and he wonder why he get sick one day!.

Just now,,i had already sat for my BIOLOGY exam and I'm just wanna to express my opinion about our exam oriented system!

In what extents the exam based mentality could survives in the market? It's interesting to hear or know the Education Ministry would consider to abandon Primary School Evaluation Test (UPSR) in academic school calendar. They said, the exam only produce the students to boarding school instead of digging/exploring skills such as communications and practicality.

Abroad, especially in Japan , we never been heard of exam oriented in their schooling approach. Never.. What they emphasized on are the courage and confidence of inner self, independent of exploring and doing something unique which the scholars were thinking about this long time ago.

Yet, the phenomenon of hoping and depending on lecturer continuously happens! Students in International Islamic University, even most Institutions of Higher Learning (IPT) in Malaysia, I think,are included in that group (dependent). Lack of the confidence in throwing ideas and opinions keep happening in the class and lectures.(maybe myself also,maybe)

Questions and arguments of an issue posed to us only left a silent response, thus, make a lecture session to be a mourn and a bore. We couldn't be blame 100%.

The system our government created based on UK educational system for us, lead us in that way.Students stay up overnight for FINAL EXAM tomorrow,last minute study,burnt out after realized that,there are hundreds of facts to memorize

If we really care about the future, let's us as new generation change this system of exam oriented. While the time is running out, keep us in this way is just an absurd.

You have 100 new notifications since last night that you logged out, 1 suggested page, 2 cause invitations ,7 group invitations, and 3 friend requests, one of which is of an unknown person.You smile like a crazy person. okey, that's sound familiar?

Tomorrow morning, you wake up, take a bath for awhile and perform prayer, and then you turn on your laptop. There's only one point why you turn on your laptop, to log in your Facebook and......... something terrible happen. There's no NOTIFICATIONS even one!..."no notif, no RED?....huh?..where's the red?..WHERE?!...hey you,where's my RED, huh?....oh no, i have been ignored by my 400++ best friends, why?.. i must post something interesting, i need my red notification..!"

There you are, Facebook addict!

Whether you have realized it or not, Facebook is a real part of your life, is a real partner whom you have to see for good morning and kiss for good night. What changes over time is your degree of addiction; as it happens with all love-hate relationships.

Everything happens in your life, you post it on "What's in your mind?". Everything!. You post your thought and wait for some interesting comments or unexpected comment, maybe. If there's no one comments your status within 1 hour, you delete it back and post something new, maybe controversial one or just "Hmmm..." or " Boring...zzz~".Or maybe, you became like a rash.

You become like a poser, you just want to attract people to comment yours and doesn't show your "original-true skin",maybe you can call yourself hypocrite, poser or someone is lonely need some red notification to make sure you're not alone in this world. Some said that, Facebook is like "Wailing Wall", reveal everything about you on those wall. Some said that's conspiracy..

You don't know what's happening right now, your roommate seldom have a chit chat with you, but, on facebook, there are numerous of comments like you're talking each other.why?. You don't have a mouth or enough ATP to speak ?

Your profile information is full with your address, your email, your interests, your car,your favorite books or movies that you share it with strangers. If you have a new friend on Facebook that you didn't know about him before, and within a week, you become his best friend, always comment your status like you already know him for a year. When you meet each other, you wonder why you feel awkward and cant have a chit chat like a friend..!..

In Facebook world, you're the greatest chef in Cafe World, you can cook anything, pasta?, blueberry cake?, sushi spread?..List it, you can 'cook' it.!.....but, you had already abandoned your family for example, serve a breakfast, maybe just a slice of bread for your husband before he goes to his workplace.( This is extreme one, but it's happened!).You also invite everyone to be your neighbor in Cafe World, same goes with Farmville.

You said that, Facebook can't replace your true friendship in this reality world but, if you think back during one year, your best friends in Facebook world always supported you if you had a problem. You said you didnt communicate with online people really much, because you cant communicate like face-to-face with real people, but it seems just a white lie.

Facebook,his age is only 5 years old but, it gives numerous effects to our society just like what Malcolm Gladwell stated in his 'Tipping Point: How Little Thing Can Make a Big Difference' book, "Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread like viruses do". Now, Facebook user has a split character, one character in Facebook and another one in reality world. They're different person even they have same body..that's a great effect rite?

Your grades is deteriorating or maybe you just aim 'standard' target to pass your examination because your mentality is, "naahh, we can't become an exam-oriented, it's NERDY thing, Facebook is not nerdy thing, it's coool..." and then, you fail..!, For you, there's more important thing, to answer hundreds of facebook quizzes.

WHY??

I have got some emails from my friends and they asked about why soy is extremely hard on our body system. One of them also want me to show a proof(dalil) from al-Quran about soy's bad effects.

Yeah, seriously, I admitted that, al-Quran Karim is a Book of Knowledge, but based on what I have learned, there are other sources of knowledge and one of them is through observation, means research or experiment.

there's no proof (dalil) from al Quran Karim about soy but, i take this verse as account.

Have you ever wondered about soy? It's promoted as the miracle food that will feed the world while at the same time prevent and cure all manner of diseases.

First, I didnt mention that soy is a poison,but, I want to stress that, soy is not a miracle health food that can give us a perfect healthy body.The popularity of soy and its widespread use is amazing, when the less a hundred years ago, the soybean was considered unfit to eat. Everything in this world have their own pros and cons.

Let me simplify all those research because everyone loves simplicity.

1.The Chinese found that unfermented soybeans contained large quantities of natural toxins, strong inhibitors that block digestive enzymes from doing their job. Just imagine we use a blender to blend fruits without its blade.

2. These toxins cannot be destroyed during conventional cooking and it can depress thyroid function.

3.Arguably,one of the greatest dangers of soy consumption is phytoestrogen soy contains.It is a plant compund that mimic estrogen in the body. Mimic doesnt means it is a same thing. They are different thing with different effects. It's just like a twins but they have their own personality and abilities.

4.Recent studies found that these compound may actually increase the risk of breast cancer and cause thyroid disease.

5.Soy phytoestrogens do have the estrogenic effect of stimulating the growth of breast cancer cells in tissue cultures.

6.It disrupts endocrine function and are potent antithyroid agents are present in vast quantities in soy.

7.Soy is linked to infertility, breast cancer, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer, and many other disorders

8.Soy has also been associated with reduced testosterone levels in men.

9.Some women say soy's high level of phytoestrogen offer hot flash relief. However, some suggest soy could do more harm than good, particularly for menopousal women.

10.Soybeans also contain haemagglutinin, a clot-promoting substance that causes red blood cells to clump together.

While it is true that many claim soy is a health food, there is simply too much emerging evidence to the contrary to be ignored.

Again, soy is not a miracle food that can give us a perfect healthy body.nothing's perfect.

However, I agree that certain soy foods, eaten in moderation, can be a healthy addition to the diet.

me always washing my clothes at Syafiq's house because his house is just 200 metres away from my university...then,after i finished it, i search for my slipper and then, i saw Syafiq wore my slipper.."hey,that's my slipper la,syafiq" in Kelantan dialect..

without feeling guilty,he said.."nope,,this is my slipper.." oh..maybe..his slipper is exactly same like mine..so, i'm just ignored it..i took my clothes and put it on my bicycle...for sure,kaki ayam..!

Ever since I installed Nuffnang ads on this blog just to try it out, I've been extremely curious as to whether I can really make some money from blogging and i'm just trying it..

Lying is a characteristic of hypocrisy and Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) strictly forbade lying at all times.

He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “Let he who truly believes in Allah and the Last Day speak good or be silent.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee]

Moreover, he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) has specifically cursed the person who lies to make people laugh,

He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam)said: “Woe be on one who speaks and lies in order to make people laugh, woe be on him.” [Abu Dawood]

The above Ahaadeeth show the false tradition of April Fool, which the Western tradition appreciates and encourages claiming that it brings joy and amusement, whereas the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) forbade lying and deceiving even if the intention of the person is to amuse people.

Abd al-Rahman Ibn Abi Laylaa said: “The companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) told us that they were traveling with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam)

A man among them fell asleep and some of them went and took his arrows. When the man woke up, he got alarmed (because his arrows were missing) and the people laughed.

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “What are you laughing at?” They said, “Nothing, except that we took the arrows and he got alarmed.”

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said:
“It is not permissible for a Muslim to frighten another Muslim.” [Abu Dawood (5004) and Musnad Ahmad. Authenticated by Shaikh al-Albanee in Saheeh al-Jamee (7658)]

In facebook , there is someone who posted about his friend got into the accident and died. After that, his friend that had already dead sent sms to one of their friend and you guess it...,,and it just APRIL FOOL..wtfish....

May Allah protect us from indulging ourselves in such dishonest activities and may He give us the strength to withstand such practices when they tend to infect our Muslim Society. Amiin..!

SATURDAY night was the second time Malaysia participated in the Earth Hour programme.
Some high-rise buildings like KLCC, Menara Maxis and KL Tower switched off their lights.
We should commend such efforts. Kudos to the respective authorities.
Generally however, Kuala Lumpur was a letdown because the city was still bright.
Other cities like Sydney, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Moscow, Johannesburg and London were much darker than us.
What is wrong with us Malaysians?
How can we pledge to reduce carbon emission by up to 40% come 2020?
The ordinary citizen never seems to bother about such events.
While i'm turned off my bedroom's light, the others just ignored about that and said "ko ni semangat sgt la sahel"..and some of them playing around with their arrogant comments when i posted about EARTH HOUR..come on man..please use ur common sense...okeh?

that's why..malaysians are popular with 'The Malaysian solution', like in many other instances, does not take common logic into account but rather uses the sledgehammer approach.

We might think that nothing much can be achieved by switching off lights for an hour.
It’s not the time that counts, but the TOGETHERNESS and the WILL to do something to make this Earth a better place.
What happened on Saturday might be due to the lack of promotion by the organiser, the WWF.
We must have a will to preserve and conserve the environment for our future generations. We must discard our selfish attitude now.
If you think switching off lights and staying home is boring and stupid, why not hang out with family or friends during the hour?

That way you can kill two birds with one stone.
You can save the planet and enhance your bond with each other.
The people in power, corporate figures and the NGOs should set an example by doing the same thing and asking everyone to switch off their lights.
I am very supportive of Earth Hour and feel we should make Malaysia as darkest country during Earth Hour.

Remember, everything is possible as long as we think of Mother Earth.

a doctor too many.

Malaysia, a country with about 26 million inhabitants, boasts of 24 medical schools now.
Just a few years ago, the number was less than 10. In fact,10 years back, I could count the medical schools with my fingers. Now even with my toes and my fingers, I can no longer. Some of the names are so new that I, did not even know they existed until I did some research for this article.

These are the medical schools in Malaysia. These schools, when fully functional, will produce about 4,000 doctors a year. There will be thousands more Malaysian doctors being produced overseas, since many Malaysians are studying medicine in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan and even Ukraine.
The sudden mushrooming of medical schools is apparently due to shortages of doctors in the public sectors. This is because most doctors in government service resign after their compulsory services and opt for the supposedly greener pasture in the private sector.
In most other countries, the logical thing to do to counter this brain drain of doctors to the private sector is to find out why doctors are resigning from government service, and then try to address the woes of the doctors, and hopefully, keep them in service. I call this common logic.
The Malaysian solution, like in many other instances, does not take common logic into account but rather uses the sledgehammer approach. After all, we do have Malaysian logic, which is different from common logic practised in most other countries. For example, if we cannot have spacecraft of our own, we can still produce astronauts by sending Malaysians into space, hitchhiking on other countries’ spacecraft.
In most other countries, the common logic will be to try to improve the working conditions in public sector so that doctors will stay back. But Malaysian logic is sledgehammer logic, and is very different.
If the doctors do not want to stay in government service, then Malaysia shall flood the market with doctors, so goes the Malaysian logic. Never mind that setting up of medical schools and training doctors are expensive businesses. We have petroleum and huge amount of development funds.
By building more buildings and buying expensive medical equipment to equip these medical schools, billions will have to be spent and, of course, in the Malaysian context, everyone will be happy, down from the planners, the contractors, the parents and all others involved, since the perception is that projects in Malaysia inevitably will have some leakages and wastages, and many people are very happy with these leakages and wastages.
Never mind that we may have the hardware but we may not have enough qualified people to man these medical schools.
The Malaysian logic seems to be like this: If enough doctors are produced, the market will be saturated with doctors, and thus, doctors will have nowhere to go but to stay in government service.
Well, the people may be clapping hands and rejoicing that, with more doctors than are needed, medical costs will come down.
Unfortunately, things do not function like this in medical education. Experience in some countries tells us that some doctors in private practice, when faced with too few patients, will charge higher and do more investigations, some of which may not be needed. So instead of medical cost going down, it will go up.
In any advanced nation, the setting up of a medical school requires a lot of planning and is not done on an ad hoc basis. Planning must include where to source for experienced and qualified teachers; where to build new or source for existing teaching hospitals, which are big enough for the placement of these medical students to do training.
Planning such as facilities, equipment, classrooms, curriculum. In the west, it takes many years of training for a medical school to be set up; whereas in Malaysia, we see more than 10 in the last five years.
In Malaysia, due to the sudden “exponential” increase in medical schools, we have medical schools pinching staff from each other, even the mediocre ones. With that number of qualified teachers only, it is unavoidable that many teachers may not have the experience and qualification to be medical lecturers.
The early birds (medical schools) are more fortunate. Their students are placed in bigger hospitals like the General Hospitals of Kuala Lumpur or Penang. Now, some of the medical schools just opened have to send their students to smaller district hospitals to do their training. The smaller hospitals are often manned by more junior doctors who are not qualified to be medical teachers, and these hospitals have only very basic facilities and equipment.
This is just the beginning of the problems. For a doctor, graduating from a medical school is the beginning of a life long journey, and the basic medical degree is more like a license to start to really learn how to manage and treat patients.
The most important year after a doctor graduates is the houseman-ship. If a doctor does not have proper houseman training, then he would face a lot of problems later on. He or she may know all the medical knowledge in the world (just for argument’s sake, since knowledge of medicine is so vast that no one can know everything), but without the proper houseman training, he or she will not get the hand-on experience so crucial and important to doctors.
A doctor without proper houseman training is not unlike a person who has only ever raced in arcade games, suddenly being asked to race in a real life race. He would not have the hands on experience to do well. A doctor without proper houseman training would be like a person given a license to kill, and a disaster waiting to happen.
Now, with 4,000 doctors being produced in a year, where do we find so many houseman positions for these young doctors?
Even now, with some of the medical schools just starting and not yet producing doctors, and the number of doctors being produced is much less than the 4,000, the wards in some of the bigger hospitals are filled with so many housemen that, in some wards, there are not enough patients for these housemen to learn management skills.
About a year back, I was told, in HKL some of the units have more than 20 housemen. Recently one doctor told me that in some units, it may have even more than that. I was aghast. Since with that many housemen in a single unit, and so few senior officers to guide them and so few patients for them to learn from, how are they going to learn the skill of doctoring?
When there is not enough training for these housemen, what do you think our policy planners do? In the typical Malaysian style, they increase the length of houseman-ship from a year to 2, hoping that the longer time will help to give better exposure to these doctors.
Compared to Australia, New Zealand, and United Kingdom, houseman-ship is still one year only. By increasing the length of the houseman-ship, it is a tacit admission that our one-year houseman training is not as good as the above mentioned countries.
A poorly trained houseman will become a mediocre medical officer, and since now most of the specialists are trained internally, it will be a matter of time before future specialists may not be as well trained as presently.
Many parents do not know about the actual situation and still encourage their children to take up medicine. They are not told of the actual situation. The day will come when there are simply so many doctors that none are adequately trained. There will come a day when a doctor graduating from a medical school cannot even be placed in a houseman position.
And that day is actually very near.
